Name Policy
We are committed to respecting the identity and privacy of all contributors, including authors, editors, reviewers, and other collaborators. We recognise that names and personal identifiers may change for a variety of reasons, and we aim to ensure that individuals are accurately represented in our content and records.
Name and pronoun changes
Contributors may request to retrospectively update their name and/or pronouns in any material published within the Risk Management Toolkit, including:
Toolkit documentation and reports
Acknowledgments, contributor lists, and credits
Name changes may be requested for any reason, including but not limited to marriage, divorce, gender identity, religion, cultural reasons, or personal preference.
Where applicable, contributors may also request updates to email addresses, professional bios, photos, or other identifying details associated with their profile or contributions.
Requesting a change
To request a change, contributors should contact the Toolkit co-leads.
Requests should include:
The current name as it appears in the Toolkit.
The new name and/or pronouns.
Any additional identifiers to update (e.g., email address, bio, photo).
We will update the relevant Toolkit HTML page (Credits and Licensing), and these updates will also be reflected in future PDF versions and their metadata.
Please note that:
We are unable to notify or update external indexing or referencing services (if applicable).
Changes cannot be applied retroactively to previously published static documents or older PDF versions and their metadata.
All updates will be logged with a date and time for transparency.
Use of aliases and anonymity
We recognise that some contributors may wish to remain anonymous or use an alias for personal, professional, cultural, or safety reasons.
Use of an Alias – Contributors may choose to use an alias or pseudonym (such as a nickname or a pen name) instead of their real name.
Anonymity – Contributors may request that their name not be displayed at all (e.g., “Anonymous Contributor”).
Later Updates – At any time, a contributor may request to:
Replace an alias with their real name (or another alias)
Transition from anonymous to named (or vice versa)
Permanently remain anonymous or use an alias
These choices are fully respected, and no explanation is required.
How requests are processed
Privacy and confidentiality
We will handle all requests with discretion.
We will not ask for the reason behind a request.
We will keep all communications confidential.
We will not disclose any changes unless you ask us to make them public.
